Countryside Heavy Horses

Heavy horses were once the driving force of the farming industry, and would have been a familiar sight across the British landscape, pulling ploughs, carts and barges
In fact, heavy horses were used to shape the very land on which the Midland Game Fair Main Arena now sits. Today, there is less work for them to do, but they have become a proud symbol of Britain’s agricultural heritage.
The four heavy horse breeds found in the UK are the Shire, the Clydesdale, the British Percheron and the Suffolk. Cliff Green and his experienced team will introduce you to a variety of the Heavy Horse breeds along with their miniature cousins.
Visitors will be invited into the Arena to meet all these gentle giants, a great chance to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals. Countryside Heavy Horses perform twice a day in the Midland Game Fair Main Arena.
