23rd September 2009 Laksen Ladies Launch at the Midland Outdoor clothing specialists Laksen launched their stylish new Ladies range through official stockists Springer Cottage Gunslips at this year’s record breaking Midland Game Fair. The new range went down a storm with game fair visitors, so much so that they completely sold out of the new Oxford tweed garments on their stand.

“Since the early 80s Laksen has specialized in design and precision of clothing for hunting & outdoor activities, with the aim of developing and producing the ultimate clothing for outdoor activities in any climatic condition without compromising comfort and functionality” says Vicky Rudkin, Director of Springer Cottage. “As a keen shot myself, I understand the needs of lady shooters and have worked closely with Laksen in the development of a range specifically for ladies, not just a man’s suit made smaller.” The Laksen Ladies range offers a choice of styles in the shooting vests and waistcoats to suit all figure shapes. “This has been achieved by looking at the fashion industry in general and feedback from customers asking for the shaping for real women and to achieve fitted styling. This detail has then been incorporated with the best Scottish tweeds selected by Laksen for their density, light weight, hard wearing qualities and durability”. There are also practical considerations “The design allows for the cartridge pocket to be held open for smooth loading. Also the hand pockets are fleece lined for warmth and angled to allow the water to run away and not into the pocket itself” continues Vicky, “in addition to this Laksen have employed their patented weatherproof and breathable CTX membrane which is over 60% lighter than Gore-tex”. But a key consideration in the development of the new range is style “Springer Cottage has received a great deal of feedback in relation to Laksen clothing. Some ladies are not waiting until they need a new coat, but are purchasing a new one because of the new styles and colours for that season. However because the ranges have mix and match accessories they can add and extend the life of their suits simply by buying a new jumper or shirt. All suits in the Laksen range have complimentary accessories such as 3 different styles of hat for the ladies, sweaters in Cashmere and Merino Wool, shirts, silk scarf, flashes and caps”. But what really sets the range apart is the use of colour “Laksen have incorporated heathers, pinks, turquoise and blues to bring a feminine touch to the ladies tweeds and accessories.
