Working Dog enthusiasts get richa at the heart of the Midland Game Fair
This year’s Midland Game Fair offered more for working dog enthusiasts than ever before. Included with in this year’s Working Dog Village were have a go opportunities for the most inexperienced of handlers to seasoned enthusiasts in the Hart Gundog Scurries, the Kennel Club’s Discover Dogs Roadshow offered educational displays from a wide variety of gundogs whilst the Native Breeds Have a Go Agility and the Pet Dog Show allowed dog owners of all backgrounds to test their canine companion.

At the heart of the Midland Game Fair’s Working Dog Village the Richa Working Dog Arena hosted the Grand Final of the second Richa Premier Gundog League. Throughout the day handlers battled against each other for their chance to be crowned Richa Premier Gundog League Champion 2008 and drive away in a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander Equipee worth £19,449.00LP and fully kitted by Trans-K9 Dog Transporting Equipment. League leader John Bingham performed exceptionally throughout the day, handling Lou with precision and speed. John knocked out many of the competition’s top handlers including 2007 Richa Premier Gundog League Runner-up Roland Ward. In the final John’s excellence shone through and he was crowned 2008 champion in front of thousands of spectators.

Elsewhere in the Working Dog Village a staggering 1,368 entries were received into the Hart Gundog Scurries including a record number of entries from handlers with little or no experience of gundog scurries. Despite having to relocate the Countryman’s Weekly Terrier and Lurcher events to a separate area of Weston Park to the Working Dog Village, a record 284 entries were received in the lucrher events and 174 entries in the terrier events.
