The National Welsh Countryside Gathering is coming!
Join us on July 9th & 10th 2011 to celebrate the very best that the Welsh countryside has to offer
"The Big Country" that’s what they call it. This land of mountains and valleys is steeped in mystery and legend. A proud and patriotic nation, Wales is the source of some of the world’s most celebrated mythical heroes and some of its most fearsome creatures! Its ancient language and Celtic culture is fiercely guarded, and very much illustrates the passion of it’s people. See the fire in the eyes of the Welsh National Rugby Team before every international, and you’ll start to feel the passion of this nation.
Countryman Fairs is proud to be working closely with Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Assembly to bring you a true celebration of Welsh country life. We aim to combine the comprehensive portfolio of country sports, lifestyle and family entertainment that has become synonymous with Countryman Fairs events, and also showcase the very essence of Welsh culture, heritage and the spirit that defines the nation.
Set in a well known Estate in picturesque North Wales, we hope this Welsh National Countryside event will become the annual meeting place for the Welsh countryside community, as well as providing an introduction to Welsh heritage and its legendary hospitality for those visiting from further a field. We're sure that every visitor will take home their very own 'piece of Wales'.
In order to create a true Welsh National Countryside Celebration, we need the support of the Welsh countryside community. Countryman Fairs very much welcome the involvement of Welsh country sports clubs and societies to help us build our portfolio of country sports activities. We must cater for all abilities, from the novice right through to world-class competitors.
We would also be delighted to work with organisations that promote Welsh cultural heritage. It is essential to nurture the event's Welsh identity, and provide visitors with a broader understanding of the nations history. Throughout history, the Welsh have proudly defended their territory and identity, and have resisted all attempts at colonisation. Some say that there has never been a truly successful unification of Wales by an invading force. In 1997 a Welsh referendum led to devolved government and the creation of the Welsh Assembly in 1999, thus finally handling control of the nation back to the Welsh people.
