Music, colour and spectacle: the Main Arena has all of these in abundance.  We take pride in sourcing the UK’s finest displays and demonstrations to create an outstanding centerpiece for the Sussex Country Fair.  Visitors will find that each display offers new insights into rural life and history, presented by some of the most famous names in countryside entertainment.  Our Main Arena guarantees audiences a day to remember.

Ray Aliker Shows a Bird of PreyYe Olde Redtail Falconry are Ray and Wendy Aliker, one of the most well-known and memorable display teams in the UK. Ray’s childhood interest in cage birds developed into a full-time falconry career, and together he and Wendy Aliker have been appearing at shows up and down the country, including the Sussex Country Fair, for over seventeen years.

David Seamark Controls a flock of geese with his dogThe Sussex Country Fair provides a true a celebration of Working Dogs, and provides an insight into the unique bond that develops between a dog and its handler. There are few partnerships between man and dog that are as closely linked than those of a shepherd and his sheepdog.  We are pleased to welcome David Seamark to the Sussex Country Fair to demonstrate this ancient partnership that has stewarded our countryside for eons.

Brian Brinded at Netmaking at Countryman FairsRabbits are one of the most common pests in the UK, causing untold amounts of damage to crops, trees and gardens.  But, fortunately, help is on hand in the form of master netsman Brian Brinded, known to his friends as “Brin”. Long-netting is one of the oldest methods of controlling rabbits, and is considered by many to be the most efficient and humane ways of controlling rabbit populations.

For over 20 years The Sussex Country Fair has welcomed some of the worlds leading pipe bands to perform in the Main Arena, and we are delighted to welcome the Green Hackle Pipe Band in 2010.

Mullenscote Gundogs

Dog and trainer at the main arenaBased at Lains Shooting School, Mullenscote Gundogs started training dogs for the shooting field in 1987. Their first clients were friends who saw their dogs work up through the field, and were so impressed that they asked for help with their training.
