With a history
spanning over 400 years, Parham is the oldest location for Countryman
Fairs’ events. The house is an excellent example of Elizabethan
architecture, with a particularly spectacular Great Hall containing
an original fireplace. Other rooms chart the changing fashions and fascinations
of the ages, with Elizabethan portraiture, eighteenth century design,
and nineteenth century collections.
Amongst the collections housed at Parham are fine examples of early needlework, a narwhal’s tusk, and Elizabethan portraiture. The Green Room exhibition centres on journeys of discovery, with exhibits including eighteenth and nineteenth century globes, and paintings of newly discovered species including the Kangaroo and Dingo.
Parham Park is located on the A283 Pulborough to Storrington road, equidistant from both the A24 and the A29.
